Summary: The first author, David Noel Freedman, who died on 8 April 2008, held the Endowed Chair in Hebrew Biblical Studies at the University of California, San Diego, and has been studying the Dead Sea Scrolls since their discovery in 1947. The co-author, Pam Fox Kuhlen, who has graduate degrees in comparative literature, theology, and poetry, is assistant professor in English at Arizona Western College and teaches in the graduate Creative Writing Programme at Perelandra College.
